Welcome to the Archaeological Society of BC

Established in 1966, the Archaeological Society of British Columbia (ASBC) draws together both professionals and enthusiasts of Archaeology of British Columbia (BC).

Our Aims

  • To encourage the identification and protection of archaeological sites and material in B.C.
  • To provide lectures and publications for the spread of knowledge about archaeology.

Activities:
The ASBC publishes an illustrated quarterly, The Midden, with articles and news on British Columbia’s archaeology. Members receive a subscription to The Midden, or you can subscribe.
Occasionally, we organize field trips where members can volunteer to:

  • Assist on professionally sponsored digs. On-site training is given to members without experience.
  • Participate in the laboratory; cleaning, analyzing and cataloguing materials from the field.
